practice is so loud now
i mean, the distance team is loud and exciting to start with, but then all the varsity guys + our one girl who ran at states were back from their break starting this week. and now it’s so noisy. they feed off each other like none other and it’s just so hard to talk. hahaa. but i love our team (even the noisy ones) so it’s ok.

Why I Run:
justgoandrun:
• for inner strength
• to be the best
• to be in my own world with no distractions
• to get stronger, fitter, faster
• to be proud of myself
• to show everyone that I can do anything
• to push myself past my limits
• to stay healthy both physically and mentally
• to have a kick-ass body!
update: i survived that run with my uncle
You can train for as hard and as long as you want. You can have the fastest legs and the longest stride. But if you let doubt slip into your mind before the gun goes off, none of that will matter.
thanksgiving weekend run
alright, so my uncle has been dropping hints that he wants to run with me tomorrow: “hey, you running tomorrow?” “what time is this running taking place?” “if you happen to be running around 9, i might be able to show you where the loop is” …and so on. i don’t know if i should be worried because, well, i typically only run with teenage girls slightly...
one day this week the sprint team cancelled...
lol. we ran in the mist. it was fun.
first week down
finished the first week of indoor track.
it’s going pretty well, the transition back into running after the post xc two week break isn’t so bad, but the first two days were a little rough. the mileage isn’t anywhere near cross country, not quite 25 miles this week compared to the 40ish from over the summer, but a) it’s track and b) it was the first week. the team seems...
How to know if your child is a Cross Country...
the-sun-still-shines:
People ask you, “They run three miles…at once?”
Dogs that chase them have to work hard to keep up.
All their socks are either stained or torn.
They can run farther in a week than their bus travels for meets.
Your child can spit while running.
Your child asks to go to a golf course…to run.
They use phrases like “10 mile” and “easy run” in the same breath
They can...

everyone: you are way too addicted to running

submit? →
i don’t mean to be copying anyone’s ideas out there, but there wasn’t a tumblr by this name yet and i feel like i’m constantly submitting to the runner problems pages and stuff, so i created one myself. there’s always room on tumblr for more running blogs, right? so if you have anything to submit, go for it. please (:
over the summer we were at my grandparents
and i was sleeping on an air mattress in the basement when my 12 year old brother started jumping on it singing the opening to the black eyed peas’ “lets get it started”
you know… “and runnin’ runnin’ and runnin’ runnin’ ” and so on. me: alex, what are you doing?!?!?! alex: um… you need to go run. of course, he was right. oh,...

back from the state meet
i didn’t run, but it went pretty well for our girl who did run. 6th place like a boss. it was about an hour drive because i took the scenic route, so pretty in the fall. but this was the last race of the season, for anyone. wow… it’s all done. sports banquet next wednesday!

the only time i like going to the gym is like between 9 am and noon because the creepy older men are at work (i used to work at a gym which is how i came up with this theory)
unfortunately, whenever we run, the creepy old men (and creepy young men) seem to be out on the roads we’re on. it’s lovely.

Not running actually makes me hate myself and makes me feel gross and makes me want to listen to depressing music and makes me want to spend my life crying.

today was the end of my two week between season break, so i went out to pre-indoor conditioning and ran (: technically, it was xc practice because our team has states this weekend, so i just ran with them. but for me it was track practice, haha. i’m ready to work on some speed, man. peace out, 5K. hello 1000. and 4x800. and maybe some 500s. and 1600s. lol… hello...
